Madeleine Dymond (b.1991) is a visual artist and researcher living and working in Johannesburg, South Africa. In June 2016 she completed her MFA (summa cum laude) in the program Master of Art in the Public Sphere at the École Cantonale d’Art du Valais (ECAV), Sierre, Switzerland. While at the ECAV Madeleine collaborated with a colleague to co-ordinate and present a workshop oriented around publication binding, a workshop to be repeated in 2017 in Johannesburg. She is a member of the *err artist’s collective which formed in Geneva in late 2015 and exhibited together at the Athens Biennial AB5to6 in September 2016. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Batolit in Austria and has exhibited in Switzerland, Greece and Germany in addition to her home-town of Johannesburg. She completed her BA (Hons) in 2013 at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
Her recent work has been concerned with visual literacies of the commons. In both her research and practice she is examining the mise-en-scene of historic power and its contemporary presence.
